Mid-Cambridge, broadly speaking, is that triangle of Cambridge which is between the points of Harvard Square and Central Square and Inman Square.

More specifically, Mid-Cambridge is broadly understood to be the neighborhood described by the boundaries of Kirkland Street to the north, Massachusetts Avenue to the south, Prospect Street to the east and Harvard Square itself to the west. Mid-Cambridge is sought after for its excellent location between Harvard and MIT. It also where you will find the public high school and library. Some speak of Mid-Cambridge as “The Golden Triangle” – located between Harvard Square and Inman Square and Central Square.

The main streets serving Mid-Cambridge are Cambridge Street, Broadway, Harvard Street, and Massachusetts Avenue. There are many pleasant side streets in Mid-Cambridge with well-maintained properties. Residents enjoy having shops and services close by. It is easy to live here without a car.

Mid-Cambridge is appealing to many for many different reasons, including the following:

- Easy access to the Red Line subway stations at Harvard and Central Squares is a plus.

- Mid-Cambridge is, as the name suggests, in the middle of Cambridge, between Harvard and MIT.

- Eclectic mix of architectural styles.

Harvard Graduate School of Design. I have enjoyed serving as a host to international students at the GSD over the years.

Cambridge Public Library. Newly renovated and expanded.

Savenor’s Market. Shop where Julia Child once did!

Broadway Bicycle School. I like to travel by Vespa. This is a shop for the traditional two-wheeled means of transport!

Cambridge City Hall Annex. Cambridge’s first municipal green building.

Darwin’s Limited. Cafe on Cambridge Street. The other location is in Harvard Square. The kind of cafe visitors think of when they imagine Cambridge.

Cambridge Hospital. This is a Cambridge Health Alliance hospital campus.
